Just Like Mercy Alum, Aloyo Sharon is one of the interns from gulu University,
There’s nothing quite like having your first field experience that moment when theory meets practice in the most real way possible. As a Bosco Uganda intern, Sharon found Herself standing at a worksite in Pader District, tools in hand, ready to put her knowledge to the test.
This wasn’t just about technical skills though she learned plenty, from crimping cables to testing battery voltages. It was about discovering the power of teamwork as she troubleshooted failed connections together with the team, shared knowledge , and pushed through exhaustion to get systems running. Our network expert patiently guided her through every connection, while the solar team showed her the precision behind renewable energy systems.
Here are her exact Words.
As an intern at Bosco Uganda, it was my first time traveling to a field for a practical network management, solar power upgrade, and installation of lightning arrestors in Pader District and Agago District. The beauty about the field was that it was a team effort. As we arrived at the site, I felt a very strong sense of happiness as I was about to practically do the things I learned theoretically in class, knowing very well that it would boost my confidence and professional skills.
Working alongside my team, I was able to learn a lot through the combined knowledge, like everyone was good at their job. Our network expert, Mr. Mazina Fred, was a problem solver he made sure everything fit perfectly, and he ensured I understood everything right from dismantling cables to connecting them back. The solar panel team was so dedicated to what they were doing, making sure the panels captured the sun’s energy to power our systems. I helped in drilling the panels, stripping and crimping the cables, fetching water for earthing, and activating the Windows.
The work was tiresome, but we never gave up. We solved all the problems together for instance, when some of the crimped cables failed to work, everyone joined in to crimp more cables, and it felt so amazing to see everyone working together as a team. The team was not just any team but one that worked and corrected each other as one and with love.
This experience taught me that teamwork is very powerful. When we work together, we can achieve big and great things. I also learned new skills, like how to test battery voltage and how to connect the battery both in serial and parallel connections—things I will never forget. I also made some great memories with my team.
I will always remember this project and the sense of pride and excitement I felt when the work was finally done, knowing fully well that I was a part of that great work.
